CANCELLED Workshop: Mindful Movement - Leading from Within

When: 23 Nov 2024
Where: Online Event
Tutor: Rosalie Dores

About the training:

Mindful Movement is an essential part of mindfulness-based approaches but often the most neglected. In our personal practice we may omit movement practice, while as teachers we can struggle with the practicalities and confidence in teaching. This training will support you to come to know and befriend mindful movement practices, with all the challenges, joys and fruits this entails.

During this one-day workshop we will enquire theoretically and experientially, into the role of mindful movement in mindfulness-based approaches. Participants will be supported to deepen their personal understanding of why movement is important and to teach movement with confidence and integrity.

Who is the training for?

This training is suitable for anyone who has followed a foundation Mindfulness-Based Programme such as MBSR or MBCT.  All those working within the mindfulness field including teachers (emerging, new and established), trainers, supervisors, retreat leaders are welcome as well as anyone wanting to deepen their own understanding and relationship with mindful movement.

Participants will be invited to practice at their own pace, respecting the body and working kindly within your own limits. Please feel free to contact us beforehand if you have any physical or health conditions that you are concerned may impact on this training.

Pre-requisites:

- attendance at a mindfulness-based programme such as MBCT or MBSR

- an established personal mindfulness practice

- ideally have participated in the Mindfulness Network Essentials training or equivalent.

Participants must commit to the entire online training. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, we are unable to negotiate late arrivals or early leaving. If this is not possible, please contact us to discuss before submitting an application.

Other information:

Please see the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA) for good practice guidelines and other information for mindfulness-based teachers.

Certificate of Attendance. Please note that we give a Bangor University Certificate of Attendance that details the nature of the course and the hours involved. However, this does not constitute an authorisation to teach mindfulness-based approaches. The development and interest in the potential of mindfulness within a range of settings is rapidly growing and training processes are therefore becoming more structured. Within the UK, though, there are currently no formal qualifications/certification processes which regulate competency in teaching mindfulness-based approaches. This requires those of us working in this developing field to inquire deeply into our own practice, our integrity and our intentions, as well as the boundaries of our skills, competencies and understandings.
