Donation Event: Awe and Sympathetic Joy with Frits Koster

When: 30 Sep 2025
Where: Online Event
Tutor: Frits Koster

About the event:

“The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.” - W.B. Yeats (1865-1939)

There are many challenges and problems in the world at this time. It may also be important to sustain our inner balance to make space for awe and (sympathetic) joy in our life. Contemporary research indicates that awe improves our immune system, it activates our inclination to share and create strong networks, and to take actions that are good for the natural and social world around us. Buddhist psychology speaks about sympathetic joy as a heavenly abode.

Frits will invite us to explore together the themes of awe and (sympathetic) joy in practice and in theory: how can we discover, express and cultivate these wholesome qualities as a valuable support in a frantic world.

This event is offered in collaboration with the Mindfulness Network Community Friends (MNCF) - an initiative to engage the wider mindfulness community and reach new audiences. Led by a Committee of Volunteers, supported by the Mindfulness Network, we work together to run a programme of donation-based events and inspiring content. You are welcome to visit the Community Friends area of our Community site, which is open to all, for more opportunities to practice and learn together: https://community.mindfulness-network.org/course/view.php?id=72

The workshop will take place online using Zoom from 6.30 pm – 8.00 pm (UK time)
