Donation Retreat Day: Wisdom and Compassion - Two necessities for a fulfilling life with Frits Koster (21 February)

When: 21 Feb 2027
Where: Online Event
Tutor: Frits Koster

About the event:

‘Remember that just as a bird needs two wings to fly, wisdom and compassion must be developed simultaneously’ (ancient Asian saying).

This one-day silent retreat intends to gently refresh and deepen mindfulness practice by exploring two valuable qualities: Wisdom and Compassion. The teachings and guided meditations are offered in a space of noble silence through sitting, lying, and mindful movement.

The online silent retreat will include:

  • periods of both guided and self-directed practice;
  • short talks;
  • periods of silence to enable you to connect more fully with your inner experience;
  • two periods of guided interpersonal mindfulness practice (in groups of 2/3) to share about experiences and specific topics. Those who do not wish to join are invited to practise mindful writing;
  • an encouragement to use the time in the morning, afternoon and lunch breaks for self-care and continued silent practice.

In addition, if you feel the need, you can send a private chat to the team and, if possible, the teacher will respond to what is raised during the talks and practice guidance.

This event is offered in collaboration with the Mindfulness Network Community Friends (MNCF) - an initiative to engage the wider mindfulness community and reach new audiences. Led by a Committee of Volunteers, supported by the Mindfulness Network, we work together to run a programme of donation-based events and inspiring content. You are welcome to visit the Community Friends area of our Community site, which is open to all, for more opportunities to practice and learn together:

 Donations:

Our donation-events are an opportunity to come together in a community of kindness.  This is an ever-widening circle of generosity which includes all those teaching or supporting generously giving their time freely; participants benefitting from practice and perhaps sharing this; participants kindly donating if possible; and all of this supports the MN in its work and in its support of others requiring financial support, who in turn pass on the practices in their communities.

Donations from this event will go to our General Community Fund allowing us to use the money where it’s needed most - whether that’s supporting individuals to attend events, investing in outreach and inclusion efforts or helping to cover core operational costs so we can keep serving the community.

Simply by attending you are a valued part of this community.  If you are able to donate this is deeply appreciated and there is more information on the application form.
