I have practised meditation since 1998, which has been mindfulness-based since 2010. After an initial Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, I completed other 8-week courses including Interpersonal Mindfulness and Mindful Self Compassion. My daily practice is largely influenced by kindness, compassion, and gratitude, alongside exploring the mindful integration of movement – including a long-standing Pilates practice and countryside walks with our dog (Dash the Whippet). This helps me to manage the pain and emotional reactivity of a chronic back condition. I enjoy and value the life-long learning my practice offers, and the opportunity to reflect with fellow practitioners and my teaching supervisor.
I was fortunate to learn under the tutelage of inspiring teachers at the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice, Bangor University (CMRP), where I completed a Master’s degree in Teaching Mindfulness and the Certificate of Competence to teach MBSR. I am a registered MBSR teacher with the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches (BAMBA) and I’m trained to teach the Mindfulness for Life and Finding Peace in a Frantic World courses, with the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation.
I am a trained coach (International Coaching Federation accredited programme), and a Chartered Institute of Arbitration accredited mediator. The active listening, relationality, and inquiry skills developed through these trainings have synergy with and complement, the collaborative learning of mindfulness training.
Having managed quantity surveying departments in the construction industry for 20 years, I have direct experience with the essential significance of well-being in competitive, time and resource-pressured workplaces. I have undertaken training to teach mindfulness in workplace contexts with Mindfulness Network/CMRP and deliver training to businesses and charities.
