When: 8 May 2025
Where: Online Event
Tutor: Sophie Sansom
About the event:
Following on from the International Conference on Mindfulness (ICM:2024), hosted by Bangor University and the Mindfulness Network, we invite you to continue the conversation with a series of monthly, donation-based events. Each session will explore a different conference strand theme, featuring a recorded keynote presentation and a community discussion.
We’ll begin with a welcome, introduction, and brief mindfulness practice, followed by a 1-hour viewing of a keynote session and a 30-minute discussion. Join us to watch the keynotes freely and connect with fellow mindfulness practitioners - whether you attended the conference or not – everyone is welcome! Sessions will take place monthly from January to May 2025 for a chance to explore each strand. Please check the calendar for dates and register separately for each session.
Full access to all conference recordings, including keynotes, panel discussions, over 100 research presentations and bonus content, will be made available for purchase from January 2025.
Strand Five - Political, environmental, and global initiatives
How can we turn mindfulness into action - personally, politically and socially? Mindfulness has the potential to make a significant impact in our world at a time when we are facing multiple challenges. But for this to be realised, we all need to step up to meet the current issues of our time. In the keynote "Agency and Connection in the Polycrisis: Mindfulness as a Foundational Capacity for Societal Transformation," Jamie Bristow discusses the profound interrelated shocks from cultural, technological, and environmental changes, collectively known as the polycrisis. Discover how mindfulness, as an innate capacity that’s amongst the most foundational and transformative for both our agency and ability to connect, has a key role to play.
The event will take place online using Zoom from 7 – 8.45 pm UK time.
