CANCELLED: Donation Event: What Happens in Mindfulness - Book launch with John Teasdale

When: 1 Dec 2022
Where: Online Event
Tutors: John Teasdale, Trish Bartley, Christina Shennan

About the Event:

John Teasdale’s new book, What Happens in Mindfulness, is now available. It is an essential read for all mindfulness-based programme (MBP) teachers.

The writing brings together John’s life work as a cognitive scientist and co-developer of Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), with the importance of his contemplative practice to his life and work. John is uniquely positioned to engage in this integration and depth of analysis. He synthesises these ancient and contemporary ways of understanding the human system and communicates how mindfulness addresses the inherent challenges of being human in a way that is accessible and graspable. There is a sense as one reads of a deepening understanding of the familiar and known process of engaging in mindfulness practice.

This expansion of understanding is highly motivational – recognising that what happens within our system when we practice mindfulness inspires us to keep engaged with the practice. It is also hugely resourcing for our work as MBP teachers – the book helps us to build understanding of the underpinnings of MBP teaching which in turn help us to tune our teaching in ways that support our participants to access freedom from the habit patterns that drive distress.

Come and meet John!

Trish Bartley and Christina Shennon will be in conversation with John about his new book on 1 December from 7 – 8.30pm. There will be an opportunity for participants to pose questions for John through the Zoom chat. In addition, a 20% discount code for John's book will be available to those registering for the event.

This event is offered in collaboration with the Mindfulness Network Community Friends (MNCF) - an initiative to engage the wider mindfulness community and reach new audiences. You are welcome to visit the Community Friends area of our Community site, which is open to all, for more opportunities to practice and learn together: https://community.mindfulness-network.org/course/view.php?id=72
